We're a Non-GMO!

We are proud to announce that our spirit range is now officially Non-GMO Project Verified. This means that our elixirs have undergone the most rigorous, third-party standards for GMO avoidance.

Three Spirit has always been Non-GMO but we have now met the industry requirements to confidently use this symbol of verification. We’re in the process of certifying Blurred Vines, but we’re happy to announce that our elixirs now have the Non-GMO Project stamp of approval. The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to building and preserving the Non-GMO food supply for all. They administer North America's most rigorous certification for avoidance of GMOs.

What are GMOs?

GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, are organisms whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory. Since their introduction in the 1990s, GMOS have become widespread in the marketplace, most predominantly in the US. Today more than 80% of the products on grocery shelves contain ingredients or inputs made from GMOs. With new products and emerging techniques in genetic engineering entering the marketplace, looking for the Butterfly sticker is the best way to avoid GMOs.

What effects do GMOs have on the earth and nature?

Most GMOs are engineered to generate an insecticide or to withstand the application of weed-killing herbicides. These "herbicide-tolerant" GMOs have led to a dramatic increase in the use of certain toxic chemicals, damaging the natural biodiversity that ecosystems need to thrive. This can cause acceleration of monocultures, destroying landscapes and wildlife. GMO farming practices can lock farmers into never ending purchase agreements with industrial corporate suppliers. GMOs can alter the nature of the plant kingdom, and we can’t stand for that.

Being a company that is rooted in the properties and powers of plants, we care deeply about natural ingredients and the magic of plant power. We choose not to ingest or consume genetically modified ingredients out of concern for the health of our planet and our bodies.

Why are we saying no to GMO?

Much of the US system is broken, and certifications like Non-GMO are unfortunately needed to gain the trust of certain consumers. Many other parts of the world have not allowed the widespread use of genetically modified foods (i.e. corn, soya, and sugar) to enter the food-chain, meaning it is not a widespread issue. We care about gaining the trust of our customers and being transparent about our ingredients, and processes, which is why we’ve undergone this verification process by the Non-GMO Project.

Furthermore, we want to support farmers who grow the plants that go into our drinks, honouring their rights to grow the varieties they want and practice sustainable farming. By seeking out non-GMO ingredients, we're investing in a better future for people and the planet.

Your right to say no to GMO

As an independent organization, the Non-GMO Project is uniquely positioned to monitor the latest developments and provide transparent standards for Verification. There’s simply no other seal that offers the same level of rigor, testing and transparency. Ingredients are traced to their source and tested by third parties to ensure they meet the highest standard for Non-GMO Project Verification. With dedication to rigor and transparency, the Butterfly seal is one of the most trusted clean food labels on the market. Look out for the Butterfly on food and consumer products, and be confident you’re choosing GMO free.
